The challenge

Converting a five-storey office into 118 apartments involved more than a dozen consultants and specialist subcontractors, each issuing drawings in their own format, with their own title blocks and numbering systems.

The client needed a building manual with a reliable record of what had actually been built, so the building's future managers could find the right drawing for any system quickly.

What we produced

  • A complete building manual and handover documentation for the residential scheme
  • A CDM 2015 health and safety file
  • An asset register for the building's plant and equipment
  • A drawing register of 660 drawings, mapped across four disciplines
  • A project directory of the design team and specialist subcontractors
  • A branded manual designed by our graphic design team
  • Secure online access through our client portal, with revision control

How we did it

We built a drawing register covering all 660 drawings issued on the project. Because every consultant and subcontractor used a different drawing format, we set up a consistent way to read each one's title block, so drawing numbers, titles and revisions were recorded accurately rather than copied by hand.

Each drawing was then mapped to its discipline, giving the client a single, searchable register alongside the manual itself.

The result

The client received a complete, branded building manual and a full drawing register, delivered 4 weeks after receiving the bulk of the information.
